Application of Electrodialysis for the Selective Lithium Extraction Towards Cobalt, Nickel and Manganese from Leach Solutions Containing High Divalent Cations/Li Ratio

The present work aims at investigating the potentialities of implementation electrodialysis for recycling spent lithium-ion batteries. In this work, use highly-selective membrane toward lithium(I) in was investigated to recover selectively cobalt(II), nickel(II) and manganese(II) by means monovalent ion-selective membranes. It shown that presence divalent cations leach solution is responsible a significant decrease limiting current despite an increase ionic conductivity. Therefore, monitoring conductivity not sufficient operate under optimal conditions, especially when highly selective membranes were used. Furthermore, it demonstrated has be lower than avoid metal hydroxide precipitation into porosity over time.
